Our trip to New England and Canada, part 1

We recently went on a ten day adventure to New England and Montreal. Here are some pictures, if you'd like to see...

We started the trip early Friday morning with a flight to Boston. It was baby AT's first flight, and it went perfectly! We left him in his pajamas to keep him nice and cozy, and gave him a fresh diaper right before we boarded. He fell asleep before take off. I woke him to nurse him so that his ears wouldn't hurt from the pressure change (during landing, as well!), and he slept for pretty much the rest of the flight. ALSO, with Delta, you can check your car seat and stroller for free!

The weather in Boston was totally miserable! Luckily I have visited once before and know it is totally a beautiful and magical city, so the freezing rain didn't throw us off too much. We tried to make the most of it and ventured around Cambridge- specifically, Harvard. AT stayed nice and dry in the Ergo tucked inside dad's raincoat.

The next day we visited with old friends at Boston Public Market and I finally got to indulge in some cravings that began during pregnancy courtesy of Union Square Donuts (insert heart-eyes emoji). Also, woah. Just woah.

That afternoon, we (painfully) watched the Georgia game at an alumni bar with some old college friends. Plenty of jokes were made about having a baby in a bar and "getting them started young" ;)

On Sunday we packed up the rental car and hit the road to our next stop: Porland, Maine.

We stayed with friends and visited the Portland Head Light, ate a lobster roll, walked the Eastern Promenade, and took a ferry to Peaks Island- where we had homemade ice cream and enjoyed sitting on rocks at a private beach.

We also visited some places that reminded us of our first trip to Portland in 2012 during our honeymoon.

On Tuesday, we packed up the car yet again and began our journey to Montreal. We stayed in Vermont for the night, but first made a pitstop at an apple orchard for lunch and apple cider donuts. We also stopped at an LL Bean outlet store and made a purchase or two... we are now starting a petition to bring LL Bean down south! Just kidding. But seriously.

We found a place to stay in Vermont via airbnb, and enjoyed starting the part of our trip that was just the three of us. It was such a wonderful retreat between the excitement of New England and Montreal. The color of the trees was amazing, and where we stayed was so quiet and peaceful. We wished we could stay more than just one night! Before we left for Canada, we spent a couple hours hiking and soaking in the beautiful colors. Baby AT slept snug as a bug inside the Ergo for the entire hike.

Seriously, Georgia has a nice fall, but it's never seen fall quite like Vermont! We spent the drive to Montreal with our mouths hung open and communicating mostly in "wow"s and "look at that"s and "oh man"s! It was the most gorgeous drive. We made it to Montreal Wednesday evening, and began the second leg of our trip! I'll share more tomorrow...

xoxo
