I never posted pictures from Andrew's birthday two weeks ago! It already feels so long ago, but I have to share the pictures from his first birthday in Haiti, celebrated with a Haitian birthday party :) Click the link below to read more and see pictures!
The family we live with bought balloons for the party and they were hilarious. They were basically like reject balloons from America- random patterns and phrases, misprints with words spelled wrong, and random ailments like two balloons stuck together in just the right way, that when you blew it up, it blew up it's siamese twin at the same time.
Andrew talking with Beatrice, waiting for the guests to arrive :) (that building behind Andrew is where their servant lives)
Plenty of delicious Haitian food, of which I either don't remember the names or am not willing to attempt to spell...
Many games of Haitian dominos
of course he had to have a birthday cake :)
the next day we went to Haiku for sushi (yum!) and afterwards, hung out at the Best Western. He missed his friends, but they all contributed by sending him sweet videos to encourage him, which I then compiled together as one giant movie and gave to him as his gift. I will post the link to the video in a few weeks, when our internet is good enough to upload it :)
It looks like your host family went out of their way to make Andrew's birthday special. You were very fortunate to find a group of people to welcome you into their circle. That is what God does to people, He breaks down barriers and builds relationships.
ReplyDeleteWe really are so grateful for everything they did and do for us!
DeleteThat's great! The baloons are hilarious - "It's a Boy!" "50" and "Jiffy Lube" are my favorites. Andrew looks so handsome in his jeans and white shirt! Haiti is being good to you. Much love...xoxo
ReplyDeleteWe also had black "Kodak" balloons, but as I tried to blow them up, every single one popped right in my face! Like, every balloon had a reason that the previous owner did not want it...
