As promised, here are some more photos of our time in Hinche last week. We had the opportunity to explore a local tourist sight, a waterfall with the name Bassin Zim. We drove down a long winding gravel/dirt road so steep and full of holes that most people driving a normal size car have to pull over and walk the rest of the way. Once at the waterfall, we hiked up the side of it to the top, led by two children "tour guides" looking to make some money. Click the link below to view the pictures from our journey.

Andrew at the top of the waterfall- you can barely see our car behind the trees on the left. It had so many small pools that led down to the waterfall and pool below- it looked like a ride at Lake Lanier Water Park and we wanted to tube down it... this freaked out our Haitian friends who gave us a heavy warning not to do that ;) |
That concludes the series of photographs and posts from our time in Hinche. This week we have been on vacation and are currently preparing to head back to Port-au-Prince... it went by too fast! We will have updates from our trip as well as updates with work within the next few days.
The kids face in the 6th picture...ha! He looks like he wants you to charge for every picture you take of him.

ReplyDeleteGlad you guys could have some fun exploring the beautiful countryside. It sounds like your young guides gave you some good advice about the waterfalls. I'm sure someone has probably already tried tubing down them with not so good an outcome. :)
