Ah! It's August! Is it just me, or did July feel like such a long month?
Also, am I the only one that until last month thought nuptials was pronounced "noop-i-tals"? Yep? Okay.
Anyways...
This weekend we had the chance to attend our very first Haitian wedding. It’s true that love transcends all languages, because seeing the groom look at his bride as she walked down the aisle still had me teary eyed. Andrew and I do not know the couple very well, but thought it would be a good cultural experience- and that is exactly what we got! The bride looked beautiful (though she is not referred to as a bride, but as a fiancé), and the following reception at a friend’s home was simple yet lovely. We will share some pictures for now, and leave the details for another time ;)

The little boy in the family we live with was the ring bearer... or was supposed to be- he got too shy ;)

This picture proves moms everywhere are the same ;) The little guys we spend our days, and our bonbons, with

reception in a friend's gorgeous backyard!!
(If you couldn't tell, Andrew was the photographer for the night, so, sorry for the excessive amount of pictures that I am in!) Andrew and I had a lot of fun together, observing and taking in this new experience. We have been building a lot of memories together this past week, and have been finding a lot to laugh about. It might be hard to live here, but it is making us closer and better friends & partners than ever before :) Bon Voyage to the happy newlyweds who are currently honeymooning in Miami!
xo
I love that you are building memories together and finding things to laugh about! I feel like when Taylor and I only have each other we become better comedians :)
ReplyDeleteSeriously! We were trying to have a serious conversation earlier today and talk about our feeeelings but we could not keep it together!
DeleteGreat piece Jenna. Those little boys are adorable. What are their names?
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are growing each day closer together, and more comfortable with your surroundings. Keep smiling!
Thank you, Patti! I am weary of posting their names online out of respect to the parents (privacy, you never know!) but I will include their names in my next email to you :)
DeleteGreat experience and love the photos. Enjoy this amazing time in your lives.
ReplyDeleteThanks daddy!
DeleteIt makes me teary eyed to see that you are building relationships with people and have a "Haitian Julie Moon"! You will treasure these people in your heart forever and miss them when you leave. P.S. I want to snatch up those boys. ;)
ReplyDeleteAren't they cutest?! They're even cuter since they speak french :)
